    How the designer works

    Choose your sports and layout

Design your basketball court, or any mix of sports, in seven steps: space, sport, colors, lines, accessories, review and get your design. Every sport court layout starts with the space you have. Pick a preset or type your exact width and length, from 15 to 120 feet wide and 20 to 120 feet long.

Then choose a primary sport. The court designer covers basketball, pickleball, tennis, padel, volleyball, futsal, hockey and badminton, plus backyard games like 4-square, shuffleboard, bocce, hopscotch and chess. If you pick basketball, you also choose the three-point line: high school, NCAA or NBA. Add more sports to share the same surface, or start from a popular combo such as basketball with pickleball.

Planning a combined court? Our guide to multi sport court layout explains how line colors keep overlapping games readable.

    Colors and line options

Pick a surface color, a border or accent color, and a line color. The palette runs from Brooklyn Blue and Central Park Green to Shadow Black and Baseline Beige, and lines come in white, yellow or black. Each set of game lines can be switched on or off, and the preview draws every line at a regulation 2 inch width.

Want to see the colors in real tile? Browse the court color chart. For a logo, a Pantone match or another custom basketball court design beyond the builder palette, see our custom basketball court page, where our design team works with you on basketball court custom design details.

What the builder draws at each size

The builder only draws a sport when its regulation footprint fits your space. Basketball draws as a half court when the space is under 70 feet long and as a full court at 70 feet or longer. If a regulation three-point arc cannot fit your width, the preview pulls the arc in so you see what will actually play. For the numbers behind each line, read our guide to basketball court dimensions.

    Compact, 30 by 50 ft

Driveway or small backyard. Enough room for basketball or pickleball lines.

Sweet Spot, 40 by 60 ft

Our most popular size, and a common starting point for a backyard basketball court design.

Half Court, 42 by 50 ft

A regulation half court with room for the key, free-throw circle and three-point line.

Full Court, 50 by 84 ft

A full regulation court with two hoops, and room to overlay pickleball.

    Sport Court Designer FAQ

Can I design my own basketball court online?
Yes. The sport court designer on this page lets you enter your space, pick basketball as your sport, choose a high school, NCAA or NBA three-point line, set your surface, border and line colors, and add accessories. The preview redraws as you go. When it looks right, send it to us and we email a PDF of your design with a free, no-obligation quote within 24 hours.
Is basketball court design outdoor any different from indoor?
The lines are the same, so the builder draws them the same way. What changes is the tile. An outdoor basketball court design needs a tile line built for indoor and outdoor use, with an open-grid surface that lets rain drain through. Indoor-only lines are made for conditioned spaces like gyms and basements. Tell us where the court is going when you send your design and we will match the tile to it. Compare tile lines
What if my space is too small for a sport?
The builder only draws a sport's lines when its regulation footprint fits your dimensions, so you never see a layout that cannot be built. Basketball lines need at least 25 by 42 feet, pickleball needs 20 by 44 feet, and tennis needs 36 by 78 feet. If a sport disappears from the preview, try a larger size or send us your space and we will suggest the closest fit.
