Tennis on a Sport Court: Lined Court Size and Pad Planning

Sport court tennis is played on the same lines as any other tennis court. The difference is the surface: interlocking tiles over a flat pad instead of paint on a slab.

    Doubles court

    36 x 78 ft

The smallest pad our Court Builder draws tennis lines on.

    Singles court

    27 x 78 ft

Same length as doubles, without the 4.5 ft alley on each side.

    Service line

    21 ft from the net

Service boxes are set in line tiles per your CAD layout.

That 36 x 78 ft rectangle is the lined court, not the whole project. Players need room to run behind the baselines and beside the sidelines, so a sport court tennis court always needs a larger pad than its lines. Tell us the space you have and your free CAD layout will show the full pad before your contractor builds the base.

Pickleball fits inside the tennis footprint with room to spare, which is why so many tennis pads add pickleball lines. A multi sport court can carry both, and our Multi-Sport Net System serves tennis, pickleball and badminton on height-adjustable posts, in sleeve or surface mount. Planning a budget? Read what drives multi sport court cost.

One thing we do not do is repaint an old tennis court. Our tiles go over a flat, structurally sound concrete or asphalt pad instead, and we do not pour that base ourselves.

    Tennis Court Installation by State

We ship kits nationwide and work with certified installers, who handle tile, lines and net placement. Base work is quoted separately by a licensed local contractor. Local pages cover permits, weather and timing by state.

    Tennis Court Questions

How much does a modular tennis court cost?
Every GTC tennis court quote is all-in for the court package: tiles, ramps, corners, freight, lines, net posts, and a free CAD layout in one number, with no line-item surprises. Base work and professional installation are quoted separately by a local contractor, so gather those figures alongside your court quote. Cost drivers include full court vs. practice size, tile line, base condition, and install type. Request a firm quote
Are modular tiles good for tennis?
Yes. Modular tiles provide consistent ball bounce, controlled slide for lateral movement, and cushioned comfort. They meet ITF specifications and outperform painted surfaces in durability and low maintenance. Multi-sport line options let you combine tennis with pickleball on one surface. See the tile lineup
What size is a doubles tennis court?
A doubles tennis court is 36 feet wide and 78 feet long. The singles court uses the same 78 foot length at 27 feet wide, with a 4.5 foot alley on each side, and the service line sits 21 feet from the net. Those are the lined dimensions only. Players need room behind the baselines and beside the sidelines, so the pad you build is larger than the lines. Your free CAD layout shows the full pad for your space. Get a free CAD layout
